Abstract

Subfemtosecond pulse generation and measurement were discussed. The light-field induced modulation of the width of the kinetic energy distribution of photoelectrons from an atomic gas excited by an ultrashort 90-eV soft X-ray pulse carried at a wavelength of 750 nm was presented. From the depth of modulation an isolated 90-eV soft x-ray pulse with a duration of τx = 650±150 as was evaluated.
