Abstract
As its name implies, the multi-model navigation system not only provide user the traditionalcar navigation but also the foot navigation, and the information of transfer among carnavigation and public transport navigation and foot navigation, so multiple and real-timeinformation from various sources in the system are needed, for example, real-time publictransport information and real-time traffic flow and the accident information, real-timeweather and parking lots information etc. With the development of Web service, it givemulti-modal navigation system a good solution, we can get the multiple static and dynamicinformation from different web services such as public transport web service and real-timeparking lots web service etc.In this paper we present a Multi-modal Route Navigation System for mobile user or web user.First we discuss the overall architecture of this system, and then we use the web service to getthe static data and real-time information from different providers and integrate them based onXML (Extensible Markup Language) mechanism, and give a case study to describe how usethe XSLT (extensible style sheet language transformation) engine transforms XML files fromdifferent sources into a union requirement XML format for multi-modal navigation system. Inaddition we discuss the current development and the application of web service fromcommercial and no-commercial web sites and give conclusion and future work.
