Abstract
At T = 1020°C the dispersion curve of β-Ti shows two anomalies. i) As precursor of the martensitic phase transition at 882°C the transverse T1 [ξξ0] phonon with <110 polarisation is soft. ii) At q = 2 3 [111], the so-called ω-point, phonon intensity reaches down to zero energy transfer.
