Stochastic analysis for in-plane dynamic response of tire due to non-uniformity

Abstract

Non-uniformity in tires can be considered as defects that originated in the components of the tire during the manufacturing process. It leads to the deviation in tire structural and material parameters and then causes the variation of transmission characteristics. In this context, the purpose of this paper is to present a probabilistic model for predicting the impact of the uncertain structural non-uniformity on the dynamic response. A rigid-flexible coupling ring model is established to simulate the variation of the axial forces caused by the radial run-out. Future, in this approach, the nonuniform parameters of the tire are considered as a set of random variables and approximated by generalized polynomial chaos expansion. The distributions of these input variables can be identified from the experimental data of a series tire by using the Pearson model. A non-intrusive collocation-based method is conducted to calculate the coefficients of the polynomial chaos expansion. Finally, the distributions of the variation of the radial force due to the tire non-uniformity are compared with the experimental results.
