Abstract

This chapter presents a conceptual impact model which can be used as a tool to research the impact of star architecture projects. We distinguish in this chapter between star architecture as a process and as an output. We use the term star architecture projects to refer to a process in which starting conditions result in the mobilisation of inputs, to produce outputs and generate effects. We regard star architecture as one such output composed of complex and dynamic bundled offerings. The effects that are generated can be plentiful, as it was explained in the various chapters of this volume. This chapter presents a conceptual impact model that was developed as a tool with a threefold purpose: (1) to analytically identify the outputs of these special projects, (2) to help assess if and how these outputs can be related to effects in a causal relationship and (3) to offer a didactic means to debate the manifold elements associated with the impact of star architecture projects.
