Abstract

By comparing the dynamic stall behavior of a combat aircraft with a simulation, a special type of discrepancy in roll was found. The simulation was based on the best wind tunnel data available. The examination leads to the conclusion that the aircraft is disturbed by random-type ″fluctuation″ forces and moments. By introducing these effects into the mathematical model, it is possible to simulate the pilot in the loop dynamic stall behavior with the aid of a simple mathematical pilot model.
