Abstract
Model and prototype measurements enabled calculation of the air entrainment rate at aerators for a wide variety of practically used aerator designs. Theoretical reflections allowed consideration of the transverse subpressure distribution below the nappe. A design procedure for practical problems is illustrated with examples. Unanswered questions and the aim of future research work are mentioned and discussed.
