Abstract
This committee report is based upon the cooperation of 13 hospitals, members of the German-speaking Working Committee on Microsurgery, and includes 91 transplanted toes or parts of toes. The healing rate was 92.3%. Tenolyses or arthrodeses were done as secondary, mainly functionally necessary, operations. The main functional result was the mobility in the interphalangeal joints of the transplanted toes. The acquired sensitivity improved until 2 years postoperatively and resulted in a two point discrimination, similar to that of the normal values of fingers, which are considerably higher than those in toes. There were only minor complications and lift defects. Special shoepads should be worn for two years, after two toe en bloc transplantations; afterwards, normal shoes are sufficient.
