Abstract

Here we report the first application of the recombinant nonribosomal peptide cyclase Srf TE as a molecular tool, optimized to operate in organic solvent (DMF) to catalyze macrocyclization of hydrophobic lipopeptides. This approach eliminates hydrolytic side-product formation and provides access to predominantly hydrophobic surfactin products.
