Abstract
The feasibility of using batch experiments to remediate fly ash was investigated. In the experiments, polychlorinated dihenzodioxins and -furanes (PCDD/F) present in the fly ash in high amounts were determined. Contrary to what was expected, low concentrations of PCDD/F were found, suggesting that batch experiments are not suitable for remediation of fly ash. Although the continuous flow experiments result in a higher proportion of PCDD/F being leached, these are still rather low values.
