Abstract

Discharge measurements represent an important integral part of water management and provide, amongst others, an important basis for numerical and physical design models. Actual developments within the field of acoustical measurement instrumentation allow a more efficient and more detailed collection of data. After an overview of the established conventional methods, the ADCP-technique is being introduced. Discharge measurements with an Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP) have already been performed and analysed, the results are being presented and explained.
