Abstract

Inelastic neutron scattering in solid methane at 4.4°K and at 19°K has been investigated. At 4.4°K (γ-phase) an excitation mode with h {combining short solidus overlay};ω = 1 meV has been observed which did not appear at 19°K (β-phase).
