Abstract
Due to the both legal and moral obligation to protect workers at the workplace as well as the intensive cost of investing in production equipment, personal and machine safety rate high in manufacturing engineering. The present safety features and devices have many defects in view of component and installation costs as well as their effectiveness with today's driving mechanisms. By integrating a safety concept in the driving and control system it is possible to surmount the deficits whilst uncovering added cost-saving potential. The article focuses on implementing such safety concepts in production machines by means of simulation.
