Abstract

In today's globalized economy, Global Production Networks (GPNs) play a central role in ensuring competitiveness. Nevertheless, the interconnections and size of the networks lead to an ever-increasing complexity in GPNs and in the central order processing. In order to make good decisions in this environment, companies depend on decision support tools. Especially in production systems, simulation is suitable for this purpose. In industrial practice, however, the use of simulation is associated with high costs and long development times. To overcome these downsides, we present general modules for the simulation of order processing in GPNs enabling a more efficient model development.
