Abstract

Efficient and effective production is of increasing importance for machine tools. Higher material removal rates by installing more driving power combined with low machining tolerances push thermally induced errors into focus. This aspect is furthermore enforced by reducing coolant lubrication. Thus, predicting and controlling the thermal machine tool behaviour are key tasks in the machine development. A numerical based method for determining thermally induced errors is described in this article. Reusing structural mechanic models ensure a continuous development process.
