Abstract

Emergency scenarios of a re-entry vehicle are considered with regard to failures involving the aerodynamic control surfaces or the reaction control system. Such failures lead to degradations in the control of the vehicle. The failure scenarios dealt with in this paper concern a blocked body flap and a loss of efficiency of one body flap. The main goal is to develop strategies to ensure a safe re-entry in case of the addressed emergency scenarios.
