Abstract

The use of array processing for wideband signals in smart antenna-based applications was discussed. The frequency-invariant beam pattern was designed with narrow main beam width and low sidelobe level (SLL) over a wide bandwidth by using two frequency-domain frequency invariant beamformer (FDIB) in a spatial interpolation process. The FDIB with antenna arrays are suitable for switched beams and direction-finding approaches. The performance of wideband direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation was strongly degraded in the presence of array errors.
