Abstract

An experimental procedure was developed to detect partial side track erasure. The procedure was applied to examine four different head designs from four different vendors (A: stitched-pole, nonrecessed; B-D: nonstitched-pole). Time-resolved scanning MOKE measurements were made and SEM micrographs of the heads were taken.
