Shorter and bandwidth-limited Nd: YAG laser pulses

Abstract

Stable generation of 12 ps pulses in a passively mode-locked YAG system is reported using an intracavity etalon. It is also shown that self-phase modulation via the nonlinear index of YAG increases the frequency width of the laser emission; at low intracavity pulse energy < 200 μJ, chirp free pulses are observed.
