Abstract

The generation of short pulses from a synchronously pumped quantum dot (QD) laser was discussed. The influence of an anti-reflection coating on the resulting pulse shape was also investigated. It was found that together with the tunability of the emission wavelength, these lasers can be used for fiber optic communication.
