Abstract

The geometrical arrangement of a workpiece must be frequently determined when assembly is carried out automatically. Three sensor systems used for a user-oriented measurement of the workpieces are described in this paper. One multi-sensor system consisting of an inductive proximity switch, a fiber optical reflected light barrier, and a power sensor which measures the workpiece by determining the position of two bores and one plane. A further possibility is offered in the form of a through light-light barrier and an inductive proximity switch which is integrated in the effector. A much faster method is the application of a centering system on CCD basis and of an ultrasonic sensor when measuring the geometrical arrangement of a workpiece, shown by the examples of the assembly of a sealing sheet on a car door.
