Abstract

The development of immunomodulatory drugs has allowed new treatment options for diseases where immune functions play a key role. However, by selectively targeting cyto-kines their physiological functions are also impaired which can lead to the occurence of adverse effects. The diagnostic and therapeutic challenge of treating these adverse effects related to the use of immunomodulatory drugs will steadly increase since the application of these drugs will become more widerspread over the coming years.
