Abstract
Personalized care of children with congenital anomalies often starts prenatally. This allows detailed information of the parents. Site, timing and mode of delivery can be adequately planned, in order to optimize management of the newborn and hence prognosis. For an optimal primary management of the newborn and further conservative and surgical treatment, a highly experienced interdisciplinary and multiprofessional team is required. Treatment usually needs to be prolonged into adulthood. Therefore long-time follow-up in a structured manner and transition into adult medical care are essential.
