Abstract

We study the relaxation of surface profiles by solving numerically the continuum equations as a free boundary problem. For surface diffusion we obtain a nearly linear decay of the profile height in the scaling regime. For evaporation dynamics there are two distinct self-similar solutions depending on the functional form of the surface mobility.
