Abstract

Inner lining is generally proposed to improve the earthquake reliability of segmental lining tunnel. This paper focuses on the seismic response of segmental lining in rock ground and the influence of inner lining on the dynamic performance of tunnel structure. A series of large-scale (1:10) shaking table tests and numerical simulations are carried out to simulate the seismic response of the segmented tunnel with and without inner lining in rock mass. Key technical details of the test setup are introduced with particular focuses on: shaking table system, similitude design and relations between real tunnel and scaled model, modeling method, fabrication of model, sensor layout and input motions. In addition, a series of cases are conducted to study the influence of earthquake intensity, input motion and input direction on the seismic performance of tunnel section. Besides, numerical simulations corresponding to the test cases are conducted to validate the test result and to further study the seismic performance of segmental lining tunnel. Based on the result, peak acceleration, Fourier spectrum and joint extension are analyzed. Close attentions are paid to the effect of inner lining on segmental linings. Results indicate that inner lining leads to higher peak acceleration at transverse direction due to the increase of stiffness. In addition, the inner lining reduces joint extension significantly.
