Abstract
A double laser pulse multiphoton ionization technique is presented in conjunction with a simple time-of-flight mass spectrometer. The second laser pulse is used to modify the spectrum of the ion fragments produced by the first laser pulse. The experimental data are taken to support the mechanism of successive ladder switching for multiphoton ionization mass spectrometry.
