Abstract

The 40 m high Brombach-Dam is founded on Keuper sand stone. The high permeability of the foundation rock and the pronounced jointing require unusual efforts for sealing. Presents the experience gained with grouting at Igelsbach-Dam, an upstream reservoir at Brombach-Dam. Based on these results the sandstone foundations below Brombach-Dam is sealed by a soil concrete cut-off wall of 60 cm thickness which is executed by use of a special hydraulic trenching machine.
