Abstract
According to the valid European standards the stress calculation of lattice boom mobile cranes and loader cranes follows quasi-static calculations. Several research projects have shown, that the dynamic behaviour of cranes is described only approximately by the current standards of calculation. The dynamic effects can be characterized more accurately with a newly developed vibration model. This paper assesses the applicability of the vibration model for the process ‘slewing’ for a representative choice of cranes with various set-ups and different boom positions.
