Abstract
Results are presented about a 10 years (2006-2015) monitoring of acorn production in a coppice-with-standards forest in Lower Franconia, which is providing - among other services - habitat for swine herding. Acorn production was measured in the forest and varied spatially between experimental plots, between individual trees and from one year to another. Prior to acorn fall evaluation of acorn production is possible with some bias. Because of the varying amount of acorns produced from one year to the other, herding a constant number of swines in the stand may require a feeding of additional fodder or purchase of acorns for fodder.
