Abstract

Tests of turbine blades under mechanical stresses in a hot gas flow show no differences in life times, whether they are coated or not. The mechanical properties of coated turbine blades made of the Ni-based IN-100 alloy depend on a variety of factors which makes it impossible to evaluate the coatings from mechanical tests only. Therefore, microanalytical investigations of the coatings after testing them under simulated turbine conditions are necessary.
