Abstract

This article addresses the design, planning and implementation of a project to upgrade and rehabilitate the Kibling Dam and its control system. It describes issues relating to designing the dam to be compliant with standards for flood control, to the complete rehabilitation of an old structure using grouting and to additional modern scour protection measures. Particular attention is also paid to hydraulic engineering and engineering issues connected to the omnipresent risk of flooding during the rehabilitation project.
