Abstract

Toxic epidermal necrolysis (Lyell's syndrome) with erythematous skin lesions and bulla formations has developed in a four-year-old girl. The accurate diagnosis with the cryostat technique of the top of a bulla was available within one hour of the hospital admission. The course was unusually mild probably because of early treatment with corticosteroids. Skin prick tests revealed salicylamide as the responsible agent inducing the disease. The patient has to avoid this substance for the rest of her life.
