Abstract

A comparative risk analysis is made on safety considerations between a fast sodium-cooled reactor and light water reactor. The whole accident prevention concept is applied in studying the possible outages of the Kalkar plant in West Germany with fast breeder reactor, using uranium isotope 238 and plutonium-239. The plant is located on the Rhine river near the Dutch border.
