Abstract
Six simultaneous samplings were carried out in an aluminium recycling plant to validate a method for determining the concentration of polychlorinated dibenzodioxines and -furans (PCDD/PCDF) in workplace air. The sampling device was developed in the 'Berufsgenossenschaftliches Institut fur Arbeitssicherheit' (BIA) and is able to sample particulate PCDD/PCDF using a glass fiber filter according to the total dust definition and filter-passing PCDD/PCDF using a layer of polyprethane foam. The samples were analysed in six different laboratories, which were allowed to use different analytical methods. The relative standard deviation for the results is 25%. This satisfies the requirements of DIN EN 482 for the performance of procedures for measuring chemical agents.
