Abstract

In this paper modal analysis is employed to analyze the radiative properties of a truncated coaxial waveguide with a finite circular flange and a spherically stratified radome. By using the spherical mode expansion, free-space is considered as a waveguide, thus enabling modal techniques to be applied for dealing with closed waveguides and radiative problems. The effect of the finite flange and hemispherical radome is rigorously studied considering both the return loss and the radiation diagram.
