Abstract

Acting in global fields of competition makes companies face growing requirements regarding rising market volatility. This demands an ever faster and continuous adaptation of production structures. Currently industrial production logistics do not fulfil the needed changeability. This paper demonstrates the necessity of decentralised, real-time-capable information systems for changeable supply chains and presents Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) as an enabling technology for part-individual information transport along a supply chain.
