Abstract

Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) puts stringent requirements on its devices to provide deterministic services over Ethernet-based networks. Resilience is an important attribute for TSN to achieve dependable time-sensitive data transmission. Existing literature on resilience of TSN mostly focuses on a particular subset of TSN mechanisms for resilience analysis. This paper takes an overall systems viewpoint and analyzes the resilience in TSN systems provided by the interaction of multiple mechanisms. It discusses their dependencies, possible faults, and possible mitigations of a selected subset of standards. Thereby, it highlights open challenges for future research directions.
