Abstract
Regarding process control engineering in plant manufacturing and process industry the changing architecture of automation will be introduced. To cope with distributed (intelligent) systems in this field the description of communication and configuration of these systems needs to be solved more efficiently. The requirements of distributed intelligent systems will be summarized and a vision of a language for domain communication will be introduced. The idiomatic control language will be evaluated as a basis for this language. The result of the evaluation will be the enlargement of the requirements for a new language called PCDL (Process control description language).
