Abstract

We renormalize the driven sine-Gordon model including the relevant λ(h)2/2 nonlinearity of Kardar, Parisi, and Zhang [Phys. Rev. Lett. 56, 889 (1986)]. We find that on a larger scale a nonzero λ is generated, even if initially λ=0, through an "interplay" of the pinning potential and the driving force.
