Relativistic geodesy: the concept of asymptotically fixed reference frames

A rigorous theory of asymptotically fixed reference frames is presented and explicitly applied in the simple case of Minkowski space - time using the technique of conformal mappings. For practical applications however the asymptotically fixed frame can be obtained in the usual way by comparing the tangents to the various light rays in the asymptotic regime in a suitably chosen coordinate system. -from Authors
