Abstract
A longer GeGe bond than in polygermanes is found in the “bisgermanediyl” 1, which is thus in no way comparable with digermenes R2GeGeR2. The very stable Ge1 compound 1 with lone pairs at the Ge centers is formed upon reaction of GeCl2 with the phosphinomethanide [(Me3Si)(Me2P)2C]⊖ in excess. (Figure Presented.)
