Abstract
The static and dynamic flexibility behavior of a preloaded machine tool drive structure is calculated by way of a mathematical TONA FEM torsion model (mathematical model analysis) and compared with an experimental modal analysis. For the purpose of a quantitative comparison of the two methods the dynamic flexibilities must be compared in a form which has been corrected for damping. These characteristic flexibility roots are illustrated in form of transmission reduced torsion diagrams for analyzing weak points.
