Abstract

Bonded anchors under sustained load – a rheological model for service life prediction under consideration of load duration and height as well as material degradation. A rheological model to predict the creep behaviour of bonded anchors is presented. It is based on the Burgers model which has been modified to detect the nonlinear viscoelastic deformation behaviour of polymeric bonded anchors. The model enables the prognosis of anchors creep behaviour until failure as well as time to failure. All model input parameters can be determined directly by pullout, short-term creep and degradation tests on the bonded anchor itself. Thus the model can be used in practice, e. g. to assess the bonded anchors load-bearing capacity or life cycle. It is described how these model input parameters can be determined. A comparative study of the model predictions with the experimentally determined creep behaviour is presented in order to show the precision of the rheological model to predict the deformation behaviour of the bonded anchors as a function of bond stress intensity up to creep rupture.
