Abstract

Anionic and cationic silicon clusters react exothermically with WF6 to give a variety of tungsten and silicon fluorides. All the silicon anionic clusters transfer their charge to WF6. The electron affinities of Si2-6 are estimated to be less than the electron affinity of WF6 (350 kJ mole (3.6 eV)).
