Abstract
The Cu/ZnO/Al2O3 catalyst prepared by the co-precipitation method is employed in industrial large-scale methanol synthesis. Although intensive research has already been carried out on this catalyst system, several attempts are still being made to improve it. The knowledge-based approach provides the basis for a rational improvement of the well-established catalyst systems for methanol synthesis.
