Abstract
In the face of turbulent market conditions, manufacturers are frequently forced to adapt to varying order sizes from their customers and realise different lot sizes. The conditions are often decided beforehand and written into contractual supply chain agreements, without having been tested for their feasibility. This article introduces the framework for a method that helps to determine a manufacturer's customer-specific flexibility. Sources of flexibility within the value-added-network are defined, in order to enable analysis using a simulation model.
