Abstract
Gamma radiolysis of gaseous CCl//2F//2 (F 12) in pure condition and in presence of krypton, methane and oxygen was investigated in dependence of dose, pressure and temperature. For the pure gas the major radiolytic products are CClF//3 and CCl//3F with only small amounts of dimers like C//2Cl//2F//4 and C//2CL//3F//3. Radiolysis is very sensitive to changes of temperature. Addition of krypton is without any significant influence. Added methane reacts with CCl//2F//2 in a chain reaction with low efficiency; CHClF//2 is produced as main compound with a G-value of 0. 9. In the presence of oxygen the formed radicals are trapped and carbon dioxide is produced as main compound with a high G-value. Reaction mechanisms are discussed.
