Abstract

The article presents the verification procedures in stage 2 for the recalculation of existing bridges according to the current BEM-ING Part 2 and their further development. Based on the design models of BEM-ING Part 2 for shear and torsion, further experimental investigations of the three research institutions RWTH Aachen University, TU Munich and TU Dortmund on large-scale prestressed concrete girders are explained in order to derive proposals for extended verifications that represent the load-bearing behaviour of prestressed concrete girders even more accurately. Following a comparison of the refined design approaches with new test results on shear capacity, two real bridge cross-sections with varying boundary conditions are also recalculated. In both cases, the activation of previously unconsidered load reserves results in an increase in the calculated shear capacity in stage 2.
