Abstract

This paper presents a non-resonant high frequency DC to AC converter with a cycloconverter at the secondary of the transformer. The principles of a hybrid modulator previously utilized with inverters are applied to the cycloconverter together with non-resonant ZVS and ZCS techniques. A PWM pattern is introduced so that soft switching is obtained not only during the change from one switching interval to another but also within the interval. Simulated and experimental results verify the feasibility of the proposed scheme.
