Abstract
The competition between pulling tethers formation and adhesion in bound vesicles was investigated. A model was developed in which tethers were induced by the applications of a pulling force to the top of strongly adhered vesicle. A critical onset force was also identified where the tether initiates a detachment process that culminates in a continuous unbinding of the vesicle at the finite detachment force. Both the shape parameters as well as critical forces were also calculated as a function of the reduced volume and the strength of adhesive potential.
